چکیده

Modern Grid middleware is built around components providing basic functionality, such as data storage, authentication, security, job management, resource monitoring and reservation. In this paper we describe the Computing Resource Execution and Management (CREAM) service. CREAM provides a Web service-based job execution and management capability for Grid systems; in particular, it is being used within the gLite middleware. CREAM exposes a Web service interface allowing conforming clients to submit and manage computational jobs to a Local Resource Management System. We developed a special component, called ICE (Interface to CREAM Environment) to integrate CREAM in gLite. ICE transfers job submissions and cancellations from theWorkload Management System, allowing users to manage CREAM jobs from the gLite User Interface. This paper describes some recent studies aimed at assessing the performance and reliability of CREAM and ICE; those tests have been performed as part of the acceptance tests for integration of CREAM and ICE in gLite. We also discuss recent work towards enhancing CREAM with a BES and JSDL compliant interface.

Design and implementation of the gLite CREAM job management service

Job execution and management is one of the most important functionality provided by every modern Grid systems. In this paper we describe how the problem of job management has been addressed in the gLite middleware by means of the CREAM and CEMonitor services. CREAM (Computing Resource Execution and Management) provides a job execution and management capability for Grids, while CEMonitor is a ge...

A procedure for Web Service Selection Using WS-Policy Semantic Matching

In general, Policy-based approaches play an important role in the management of web services, for instance, in the choice of semantic web service and quality of services (QoS) in particular. The present research work illustrates a procedure for the web service selection among functionality similar web services based on WS-Policy semantic matching. In this study, the procedure of WS-Policy publi...

QoS-Based web service composition based on genetic algorithm

Quality of service (QoS) is an important issue in the design and management of web service composition. QoS in web services consists of various non-functional factors, such as execution cost, execution time, availability, successful execution rate, and security. In recent years, the number of available web services has proliferated, and then offered the same services increasingly. The same web ...

A standards-based Grid resource brokering service supporting advance reservations, coallocation, and cross-Grid interoperability

The problem of Grid-middleware interoperability is addressed by the design and analysis of a feature-rich, standards-based framework for all-to-all cross-middleware job submission. The architecture is designed with focus on generality and flexibility and builds on extensive use, internally and externally, of (proposed) Web and Grid services standards such as WSRF, JSDL, GLUE, and WS-Agreement. ...

Cream: a Simple, Grid-accessible, Job Management System for Local Computational Resources

Efficient and robust system for accessing computational resources and managing job operations is a key component of any Grid framework designed to support large distributed computing environment. Computing Resource Execution and Management (CREAM) is a simple, minimal system designed to provide efficient processing of a large number of requests for computation on managed resources. Requests are...
